Why Is My Kid Such a Butthole?

IMG_6627 Okay, no, but seriously guys.  Why is Henry acting like he lost his damn mind lately?  He's 14 months old, is that just when they turn cray?  Because honestly it's like WHO ARE YOU?

My sweet, happy, gentle little boy has been replaced with a monster who whines a lot.  He gets frustrated and throws things.  He sometimes hits when he doesn't get his way (don't worry, that's the one that we're changing the habit of REAL quick).  He refuses to feed himself.  He screams when you bring him back inside from being outdoors.  He looks at us when we tell him no and then purposely defies us.  He throws food.  He doesn't want to be put down.  But he doesn't want to be held.

I mean, what the fuck kid?

Maybe he's just at the age where he's frustrated that he can't fully communicate what he wants with us?  I know that's frustrating to ME so I imagine it must be to him, as well.  We've been trying so hard to explain things to him instead of just saying no. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  Other times he just screams in our face anyway.

And then after a few minutes of screaming he calms down and he's like, totally normal Henry again.  And he's cuddly and sweet and funny and we're like "okay, he's obviously bipolar".  But for real, I thought I had until he turned two before he became insane?  Do toddlers go through terrible ones and twos and so on?

I guess if there is any silver lining, he's gone back to sleeping through the night for the most part since we had tubes put in his ears.  He occasionally wakes up once a night and we have to rock him back to sleep but other than that, let's just say it's a good thing we're getting more sleep these days.  Because cranky Mommy and Daddy + whiny Baby?  Not a great mix.

So, sympathize with me.  Is your kid freaking nuts, too?  Tell me about it.
