Capturing the Mundane
Seeing me with a camera in my hand is a pretty standard sight in our house. I'm always capturing little moments of our days - some that seem pretty important (like when we announced Baby 2), others seem fairly boring (like many of the photos below). But still, I keep clicking. I was asked recently why I like taking photos and the answer is simple - there is beauty in the mundane and I want to capture it.
The days that seem to bleed into one another with the casual chasing of bad guy's, story after story at bedtime, or giggles that explode through the halls are ones that I want to remember. The big moments - birthdays, first words, first steps - those I can recall in my mind. But these everyday moments where we're just being us? Those are what I want to remember. The days where I was so happy even though nothing was truly happening. And I find that when I step back and view these pictures through my camera lens days or even months later, a smile spreads across my face because I'm able to recall a memory I would've otherwise lost.
So here are a few memories I'll be able to hold onto, thanks to the lens of a camera.
