Hot Shots 2 slot REVIEW

Hot Shots 2 ReviewWe imagine many developers will throw their hat in the ring before the upcoming 2020 Fifa World Cup in Qatar, and now it’s iSoftBet’s turn to jump into the fierce competition of which football slot will be the winner amongst players. Hot Shots 2 comes with a few new animal characters, and even though the gameplay is pretty much the same, both the features and the math model has been given some very worthwhile upgrades.

The visuals are cartoonish like the first game, and also this sequel plays out on 5 reels, 3 rows and 243 ways to win. The bet range and the RTP is the only thing that has been dialed down here, and you are now limited to bets between 25p and £25 per spin and an RTP of 96 % in the regular game. If you opt for the new and innovative Ultra Bet feature (and there really is no reason not to), you will benefit from an above-average RTP of 96.5 %, however.

The volatility is now high, as compared to medium to high in the first game. The reason being that the game’s bonus round multiplier has gone from being limited to 3x, to become progressive and increase 1x per spreading wild you land. Still, iSoftBet has put a cap on the max win at 12,150x, which is more than solid enough in our book. While Hot Shots 2 is a far better game than the original, we are unsure if the more serious football fans will fall for a theme that comes across as kind of childish.

What symbols are there?

The animal characters from the original game have more or less been carried over to this sequel, but there are some new additions too. The German Shepherd holding a pint with a sly smile is brand new, and also the alpha of the pack here, with a 10x payout for 5 on a payline.

You’ll also find a Portuguese fox with a glass of wine as a new addition. The Spanish bull with a fan is not new, and neither is the British bulldog with a cup of tea, nor the French hen with a string of onions. Also the low value royals are in place on the Hot Shots 2 slot paytable.

What are the bonus features?

iSoftBet’s Ultra Bet feature is a brand new innovation which helps bring the evolution of online video slots forward. On the left-hand side, you will see this feature on display, and it essentially allows you to pay for 50 spins up front, and it will cost you 50x your stake (which means there is no extra cost at all, but you have to commit to 50 spins).

The game plays out as normal, albeit speeded up, but now you can land stars on top of the symbols. Each star you land is collected, and you can win between 5x and 1,000x your stake by collecting between 5 and 15 stars. This is an extra bonus win that comes on top of all your regular winnings from the 50 high-speed spins. Unfortunately, this interesting feature is not available for UK players due to UKGC regulations.

You’ll also benefit from the red and white football, which is the wild symbol in Hot Shots 2 slot. Each time you land a wild (which can land on reels 3, 4 and 5 only), it will expand both vertically and horizontally to create a cross on the reels. This is called the Spreading Wilds feature, and it will get even better during the game’s bonus round.

Free spins in Hot Shots 2

The game logo is the scatter symbol here, and you need to land at least 3 scatter logos on the same spin to trigger the free spins feature. More precisely, you will be granted 10, 15 or 20 free spins when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters, respectively. It’s possible to retrigger the bonus round only once, which means that up to 40 free spins is the most you can hope for here.

The red and white football wild will now be replaced by a golden football instead, with the word “wild” in bold, golden letters in front. Also now the wild symbol can only land on reels 3, 4 and 5, and it will expand to form a cross when it lands, just like in the base game. However, the big difference is that every wild you land will increase the progressive multiplier with 1x. This, of course, is the key to the bigger wins in this game.

What is the jackpot (max win)?

You cannot win any kind of jackpot on Hot Shots 2 slot, but massive wins are certainly possible here due to the progressive multiplier. You can win up to 2,430x your stake on any given base game spin, but with the multiplier the max payout has been capped at 12,150x your stake. The max win is somewhat limited by the £25 max bet, but you can still pocket up to £‭303,750‬ on single free spin here.

SlotCatalog verdict

Hot Shots 2 has not changed all that much in terms of gameplay and graphics, but overall it’s a much more solid game than the original. The big game changer is the Ultra Bet feature, which essentially adds a bonus win up to 1,000x for no extra cost per spin. There is no reason to not use this feature, as it naturally increases your RTP and adds extra excitement to the gameplay. The bonus round multiplier that used to be capped at 3x is now progressive, which allows for massive wins up to 12,150x.

Pros

Ultra Bet feature adds up to 1,000x bonus win

Spreading wilds feature

Free spins with progressive multiplier

High volatility and 12,150x max win potential

Cons

Max bet of £25 is a bit low for some players
